I might to totally not up-to-date, but I always thought professors grade your paper according to what you have written..

Some are stricter, some expect you to work less... bottom line, sit down at your desk, hand in a paper you are fine with (depending on your personal level of motivation or professionalism) and see what you get for it. My sister teaches at college and certainly doesn´t have anything even remotely close to "the average grade" she is giving to her pupils, nor have I ever come across something like an "average grade" in my years at university, both as a lecturer and a student.

And honestly - knowing that "your" teacher likes to grade people A* doesn´t get you one if your paper is rubbish, so I don´t really get the point of your question. If you want to find out whether that teacher pays particular attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, formalities etc. best thing to do is ALWAYS to either ask him or her for a stylesheet for your paper OR talk to a student who´s done the course before.
