Comments on: Why is it that ghost sightings never seem to be reported by highly educated people in urban areas?

my aunt and uncle are highly educated they both went to good colleges, have intellectual jobs, werent raised on superstitions, and live near NYC, their defiantly not from the sticks, and they both firmly believe in ghosts, they didnt when they were young, but after moving in their house, they are sure they are real.the live in a very large, old house and when they first moved in they had my other aunt and uncle and their then 3 year old son come visit. he slept in one bedroom and they slept in the one next to it. in the middle of the night they heard their son giggling and went to tell him to go to sleep and when my uncle went into the room, my cousin was sitting on the end of the bed laughing his head of, when he asked him what was so funny, he said "daddy the man the the tall hat is telling me funny stories." they told my aunt and uncle and they thought it was just an imaginary friend, until they found a old picture album in the attic and found out the original owner of the 200 year old house always wore a top hat and loved children. thats just one of dozens of weird things that have happened in that house, including paintings with glowing red eyes, piano playing itself, people waking up with bitemarks, chairs moving by themselves, they are now firm believers

Because ghosts are mean bullies and they like to pick on those poor stupid people out in the middle of nowhere!
Just kidding. It’s because you can only see ghosts if you already believe in them, and usually only in an appropriate setting, like a decrepit old house out in the middle of nowhere.

Educated people usually try to find a logical, scientific reason in what they see. It’s most likely that those from small towns are more prone to hear stories and legends about ghosts and the like that they think what they see is paranormal in a way.

There could also be the fact that cities are more concerned with things like business, fashion and sports rather than ghost stories.

I think it might just be that the richer or more successful people wouldn’t say anything because they don’t want to lose their jobs. Think about it. If you’re a lawyer in Manhattan with tons of clients, would you want them to find out you think you saw a ghost? NO! of course not! You would lose those clients. Same thing for professors at big colleges. They may see them, just not say anything about it.

As for the comment about us guys in Indiana, I’d think that the bigger cities would have more ghosts. I figure: big cities= more violent crimes= more dead people= more ghosts.

but they don’t say it because people will think their mad

i don’t tell anyone anything because of that

that doesn’t mean the havent seen anything

they just don’t want to say
