Where do you go if there is a student talking to the Prof during their office hours?
Like you get to the door, and you see they’re sitting with another student.Do you just say hi and stand outside the door? And isn’t that kind of rude since you can hear everything they’re saying? What are you supposed to say and where are you supposed to go to wait?
Glance in and try to make eye contact. They should look up after a few seconds and if that doesn’t work say "Excuse me", at which point you can say something like "I wanted to talk to you about my paper, should I come back later?"
Either they will say come back at a specific time or they will say they are finishing up. If they are finishing up, walk a little bit away and wait. Usually there is a bulletin board you can check out while you wait.
walk in, say hello! sorry didnt mean to interrupt. ill come back in a few minutes. dont stand right outside the door like an idiot. walk down the hall and find a bench or sit outside.
walk back by the door after 15 minutes.
