Is it rude to ask a prof to reschedule an appointment?

i asked to make an appointment but i didn’t specify my availability and she said sure next monday but i have plans and wont be able to make it. was i supposed to tell her when i was available? but anyway do you think it would be rude if i Email her back and ask if she can meet on tuesday instead?

It’s not rude, but give her several options. She may not be available Tuesday, so it will speed things up if you can tell her what times you are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, for example.

  1. No it is not rude as long as you give her enough notice and don’t email her the day of. I have done it many times. You are paying for the course and for their time, of course you can reschedule.

  3. It is nice at times to let the prof know when you’ll be available to avoid say situation but it should be fine to reschedule. They are usually okay with it unless they’re extremely busy.
