What is the best department store foundation?

I would just like to know what the best department store (like anything you can get at Macy’s) foundation is. Also, I would like feedback about other brands you have used. If you know any good drugstore foundation brands, that would be really helpful too. Thanks in advance!

Hey =]]

You can buy great products at Macy’s and what not. I have tried alot of them.
( mother is a makeup artist)

Then again i have tried makeup from Mac to elf… And Sure there is a great difference between them and their quality…

I really like mac. but the price is Insane! but it lasts a long time.
Clinique is really good, but i think more of old people. haha. since its more for sensitive skin.
Shiseido, is actually my favorite brand for foundation. their coverstick is AMAZING, but its not really good for super dry skin.

Dior has a great consistency and light coverage….
I like channel as well but not their foundation. I find them drying and it makes sensitive skin peel a little.

But okay, now for the little SURPRIZE!
Have you heard of Revlon PhotoReady foundation?
Its WOW!
Cost about $10 and the coverage is quite good.! You can build it up, letting you control the coverage you want. I will surely buy this again. and I would mind paying the big money for it.
Advantage… I wont have to. =]
hahah.

I did a tutorial, and you can see the great covergade and consitency there. =]]]

Department store brands are great, but generally they’re for more of a professional use (like pageants, modeling, etc.). With regular use of MAC and Benefit, etc. you are doing damage to your skin and can break out very easily. Unless you need it for work, it’s honestly not worth the money.

mark has a great powder foundation. It’s very much like MAC’s Studio Fix. It offers the same coverage as a liquid foundation, but feels and looks like a powder. A lot of people use this as their concealer as well because it provides such great coverage. MAC’s is very pore-clogging and thick. Mark’s is very natural and long lasting. It’s called Powder Buff and it’s only $9. It doesn’t feel caked on, doesn’t feel oily, and is very smooth on your skin. If you’re wanting just a tinted moisturizer, the Get-A-Tint is amazing too and is only $8! It’s got good coverage and doesn’t feel heavy. With either of these, your face will look flawless and like velvet.

A great concealer is called Good Riddance and is only $6! It’s in a pencil form and it so terrific. I have one in my purse, make-up bag, and car.

ok, first of all, i wanna say that i have tried pretty much every foundation imaginable so i kinda know what i’m talking about. hehe

anyhoo, i’ll run down all the department store foundations i’ve tried and what i did and didn’t like about them.

MAC - i’ve only tried their studio fix fluid and for the most part, i hated it. the coverage is really good, but they don’t have a color that really matches me; they’re either too pasty or too orange, but for you, they might have your perfect shade. also, i have really acne resistant skin, and studio fix fluid broke me out like nobody’s business. it was horrible! and, to top it all off, it smells like chemicals. it’s nasty.

Clinique - their superfit foundation is pretty decent. my only complaint about it is that it’s a bit too runny for my liking; i prefer a thicker foundation. but, anyway, this i would say is best if you have dry or normal skin. if you’re oily or combination dry/oily, i would stay away from it.

Chanel - pro lumiere is amaaaaazing. my only complaint is that it’s really, really expensive… like $54 i think. but, coverage is awesome, and it’s not too matte or too shiny. it’s pretty much perfect.

Dior - i’ve only used their skinflash spray foundation, and again, it’s awesome, but it’s $60 and if you want to look flawless every day, it can get pricey… this i only use for like special occasions b/c i don’t wanna be running to dior every week to get more. haha

I think that’s about it for department store brands that i’ve tried… my favorite foundation of all time though is a drugstore one: revlon colorstay. it’s AMAZING. it’s like $12 tops and you can get it anywhere. coverage is great, and it’s super blendable and they have a really good color selection. also, it comes in a formula for dry/normal skin and one for oily/combination skin.

hope i helped! :)

The makeup I use is MAC. I switch from using drugstore makeup (Almay liquid foundation) to MAC last summer because i did not like wearing liquid makeup in hot humid summer. I currently have the following items from MAC:
MAC studio fix plus - (Powder foundation) I use it almost daily. I use a cheap foundation brush to put it on instead of the sponge they give you. I like it alot. It’s a good coverage foundation and feels light to me and has a matte finish.
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish- (powder) Even though it is a powder. I use when you dont want to go out wearing nothing. It feels lighter than studio fix and still overs some coverage.
MAC Blotting Powder- I recently bought this and use it in afternoon to after i wear Studio fix plus to touch it up and control oilyness.
I think whatever works for you works. But I have kept using MAC even though it is winter cuz I think they work for me. I have oily/dry acne prone skin. I still get breakouts here and there, but i wouldnt attribute it to the makeup since it hasn’t increased since i started using it.
