When a faculty member applies for tenure, what is the likelyhood that the tenure bid will be accepted?

Do they usually faculty members tenure as long as they see that they are doing their job adequately?
Do you know what % of tenure bids are granted?
In public schools (not talking universities here) tenure is *automatically* granted after the 1st day of your 3rd year.

How do I go about finding the department secretary in a certain major at my college?

I was told to speak the department secretary in the religious studies department at my school however; after over an hour scanning our college website i cannot find who this person is. Are department secretary’s of a particular study usually teachers?
